Via the American Rescue Plan Act, NeighborWorks America has designed a Housing counseling program to support households facing housing instability. Through this program, The Housing Council will assist tenants in Monroe County who may be at risk of being evicted or forced out of their current home, experiencing unhealthy or unsafe housing, or experiencing challenges with their housing management or landlord.

You can work with our HUD-certified counselors to

  • Receive a one on one appointment to fully assess your housing and financial situation

  • Create a personalized budget and set realistic financial goals

  • Understand your options

  • Receive financial tools to help you solve current problems and avoid future issues

  • Connect with resources that may assist to improve your housing situation.

  • Learn about your rights as a renter and can even help resolve landlord and tenant disputes.

  • If you face a situation where eviction is unavoidable, they can help you create an action plan to transition out of the property.
