Veterans are no burden
On Jan. 6, the Rush-Henrietta School Board will rule regarding the proposed Veterans Exemption from Real Property Taxation. I attended the public hearing, speaking in favor. The published statement wrote that this would be a burden on taxpayers, pitting veterans against residents. As the father of a Marine, I see the sacrifices military personnel must make. Veterans, including my son, are not a “burden.”
This would mean a tax increase of approximately $7 per $100,000 assessment for non-veterans. Veterans should get every break possible. Leadership needs to make good decisions.
